Course Description

  • Understand the key areas of neuroscience as applied to Sandtray Therapy working with diverse issues

  • Multimodal learning
    • Our resources combine all three learning styles VAK, Visual through presentation and multimedia, Auditory through discussion and activities and Kinaesthetic through completing practical activities directly related to learning. The Guided Learning Method of training provides structure and guidance for assessments but allows you to discover details on your own.

Online Learning – written learning and assessments modules are interactice, including videos, readings and activities supported by your user friendly Learner Management System (LMS).

Library that includes Research, Reeadings, Assessment Documents, Supporting Documents and more

* On-campus is a 5 Day Intensive training – where students gain skills and knowledge in applications in the diverse ways of using the sand (see calendar for dates in your state)
including:
Transpersonal Psychotherapy – any underlying issues you have not resolved may come up in training at this advanced level
Symbol Work self-trays and working in pairs
Role Plays to integrate theory to pracitce
Supervision – 10 -15 hours individual/group
Case Conceptualisations – Learn to apply the Clinical Assessment Mapping Document/Theoretical Framework/Case notes
Tutorials – weekly 1 hour online (min. 75% attendance)

Industry Experience – 2 x 60 hours client contact hours in a workplace setting (If you are in private practice this can be in your current workplace)

Duration

Full Time – 12 months
Part Time – 2 years (you will enrol into Terms 1 and 2 to complete part time, then enrol into Terms 3 and 4 in the next year to complete your studies. Each term comprises of 4 units).

Entry requirements

Entrants into the qualification must:
– meet any regulatory requirements for working with children and satisfy police checks in the relevant Australian State/Territory, and,
– have successfully completed a Bachelor degree in an area of Behavioural Science or Education, and,
– have a level of language proficiency (written and oral), that demonstrates their potential to undertake study at AQF level 8.

Career pathways

Graduates of Sandtray Therapy can be found working in private practice, community services, youth work, Indigenous support, education, early intervention, schools, child care and other therapeutic spaces.

Upon completion of this course Graduates can apply for membership with the Sandtray Therapy Assocication of Australia (STTAA). Full membership allows you to promote your business on the STTAA webiste.
IICT student membership can be accessed for $1 for student insurance cover.
