Course Description

  • This 5 day intensive training in sandtray therapy will deepen your pracitical understanding of working with the symbols and how they tell story. In this interactive workshop you will experience a new language, a language of symbols and meaning. These symbols are the expression of emotion, an question of ‘who am I”? and how am I as a therapist. How do I integrate sand and symbols in psycotherapy? unsaid word, an expression, feeling. Tap into the collective consciousness of wisdom and knowledge. We look into mythology, symbols and meaning, spiritualty, diverse cultures and more. This 5 day interactive training will give you the opportunity to experience the role of the therapist and client as you perform role plays and immerse yourself in your own personal process.

    We will cover topics such as:
    – Symbol Work – practical experience building Self trays
    – Role-play techniques to support integration
    – Sandtray cross-theoretical applications
    – Symbolic work and role-play – using counselling & psychotherapy skills
    – Understand mythological stories for deeper understanding of symbols and meaning
    – Trauma informed Sandtray Therapy as seen in sand worlds
    – Some brief concepts from Jungian Psychology supporting sandplay
    – Interpretation of arrangements in the sand tray
    – Categories and sand worlds
    – Theoretical frameworks
    – Skills practice
    – Analysing sand worlds
    – Refinement of facilitation skills getting ready for Role Plays
    – Deeper skills development

Delivery mode

Face to face classroom – hands on in the sand!
All training will take place in our purpose designed training facility in Richmond, NSW.

5 Days In-Person Classroom Practical Training 9am – 4.30pm

Entry requirements

The PD is transpersonal and group interactive, suited to mental health professionals with prior knowledge in expressive therapy frameworks (must be high level) or sandtray/sandplay therapists who have not had the opportunity to experience in-person training.
