Course Description

International Diploma of Sandtray Therapy – upon successful completion of the International Diploma of Sandtray Therapy, you will be able to apply:

Module 1 Foundations of Sandtray therapy Skills 1 & 2
– Apply knowledge of sandtray therapy to a diverse range of clients

Module 2 Working with Diverse Clients
– Integrate Sandtray Therapy within broader therapeutic frameworks, such as psychotherapy, counselling, and trauma recovery models.

Module 3 Models of Assessment and Theory
– Adapt Sandtray interventions appropriately for diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and culturally diverse clients.

Module 4 Symbol Work in Sandtray Therapy
– Integrate theories of symbolic meaning, developmental psychology, and trauma-informed practice into Sandtray Therapy processes.

Module 5 – Reflective practice in Sandtray therapy
– Integrate ethical guidelines, practice standards and reflective practice into the clinical practice.

6 months
Plus you will need to complete 10 hours of personal process with a Sandtray/Sandplay Therapy professional (at your own cost)
Further you will need to complete 10 client contact hours log book.

Entry requirements

It is recommended you have a qualfication in one of the cognizant fields such as social work, counselling, psychology, community work, education, youth work, child protection or other relevant area in mental health to be able to successfully complete this course.

You will also need a high level English language (written) and have access to the internet.

Assignments
– Sandtray Therapy Brochure
This is a creative assessment where you will produce your own Sandtray Therapy Brochure

– Video Assignment
You are asked to take a short video of your symbols/sand tray miniature collection

– Program Reviews
Read three articles on different ways that Sandtray Therapy can be integrated into practice and give some reflections

– Case Study – Peter
Answer 3 questions relating to Peter and theories that underpinn his case study

– Reflective Journal
To end your studies you create a reflective journal sharing your sand worlds, symbols and/or your journey of learning.

You will need a sand tray, sand and an array of sand tray miniatures.
